Human Computer Interaction and Virtual Reality is a newly (2006) established laboratory at University of Peloponnese and hosted at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications.

The goal of the laboratory is to promote computer science education and research in the field of Human Computer Interaction and Virtual Reality. According to the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Human Computer Interaction is an area that deals with the design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and the study of major phenomena associated with them. The Virtual Reality deals with planning, implementation and evaluation of artificial three-dimensional, multimedia, interactive environments. As illustrated by the definition of the two areas of interest the smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory requires cooperation between people of different disciplines, such as interface design, computer systems, graphics, artificial intelligence, cognitive psychology, education, ergonomics, sociology, psychology, and fine arts.

To this end, the lab seeks a holistic, cross-discipline collaboration with labs, research institutions and companies with related and/or complementary objectives and actively participates in national and EU sponsored research and technological development projects.
